Introduction:
We have completed the first 360° virtual tour of this new business adventure. The tour is of part of the Basepoint Business Centre in Bournemouth and I was involved in the second stage of the project, stitching the photographs together and creating the virtual tour.
Project Content:
The construction of the virtual tour worked well, with hotspots generated to allow the viewer to move around the building panoramas. Also, an interactive floor plan was created to identify where you are in Basepoint and a control bar at the bottom to help navigation. A colour scheme mirroring the company was used so it could be put onto their website in the future and not look out of place.
Challenges:
The main challenge I had was stitching the images together. At first I had a black circle at the nadir. On reflection, I felt this did not look aesthetically pleasing or professional and as a result, I spent a lot of time working out how to stitch a company logo into the void space. After a trial and error approach, I managed to create a circular logo to fill this space, whilst not covering any part of the photographs. Having spent the time working out a solution to this problem, I can use this method in future tours.
Next Stage:
Moving forward I am now going to create another tour, showing the fire exits and safety equipment. This should be a quicker process as I now have the business logo stitched into the panoramas. The project will be using different parts of the software to add text and information, which I am looking forward to trying out.
